Role & Responsibilities
Owned the project from idea through the finished animation — concept development, motion design, and full animation production.
Challenge
Communicate abstract organisational values — collaboration and creative exchange — through motion design, in a way that felt playful and festive rather than corporate, while remaining conceptually grounded for an arts-focused audience.
Designing at Scale
System-based visual metaphor — Reimagined HKADC as a creative ecosystem using a pinball machine: art groups are pinballs that move, collide, and interact, generating new pinballs — symbolising collaboration producing unexpected creative outcomes
Motion as creative interaction — Pinball movements represent artistic interactions, with collisions triggering new motion outcomes to reinforce that collaboration produces new creative forms
Festive visual language — Combined playful motion graphics, a seasonal colour palette, and celebratory timing to keep the animation festive while retaining conceptual depth
Outcome
The final animation turns HKADC's collaborative role into an interactive visual system, combining a pinball-based generative metaphor with festive storytelling to communicate celebration and the dynamic nature of the arts community.
