Overview

Redesign of an internal enterprise presentation tool used daily by power users in a high-demand professional environment. The goal was to improve usability and streamline repetitive workflows without removing any existing functionality.

Role & Responsibilities

As the lead designer, I owned the end-to-end UX and UI design process, including:

  • UX audit and usability analysis of the existing system

  • Competitive benchmarking across leading productivity and presentation tools

  • Facilitation of user feedback sessions with internal power users

  • Definition of new information architecture and interaction structure

  • UI redesign and workflow optimisation for core user tasks

I worked closely with product and engineering stakeholders to ensure design decisions were aligned with technical constraints and user needs.

Challenge

  • The interface had grown increasingly difficult to navigate as features were added incrementally without a cohesive structure. Research revealed that:

  • A small subset of tools accounted for the majority of daily usage, but was buried within a dense, overloaded ribbon

  • Feature placement did not reflect real-world task sequences, forcing users through unnecessary steps

  • Excessive visible options created high cognitive load, slowing task completion for repetitive presentation-building workflows

Designing at Scale

Workflow-based grouping — Reorganised tools around actual user tasks rather than feature categories, aligning the interface with natural usage patterns

  • Progressive disclosure — Limited the number of visible tools to reduce upfront visual complexity, while maintaining full feature access through structured grouping

  • Hierarchy-driven interface — Reprioritised visual hierarchy to surface frequently used actions and improve scan-ability

Outcome

The redesigned interface shipped with a restructured tool architecture, cleaner ribbon interface, and streamlined workflows for high-frequency tasks — enabling power users to build presentations with fewer steps and less friction.
